get involved / Black History Season

Black History Season is a season of events and activities which celebrates black culture, heritage and history and also raises awareness of the positive contributions of black individuals and communities in the United Kingdom.

Originating in America in 1926, Black History Season has been celebrated in London since 1987 and is also marked throughout the United Kingdom, with over 6,000 events taking place.

Black History Season is a vital time for NMCF UK to raise awareness about the work of our organisation and to raise much needed funds to support our important work.

With one of the greatest civil rights icons in the world as our chairperson and founder, NMCF UK celebrates black history season by visiting numerous school and colleges and by taking part in celebratory events and activities throughout the UK.

NMCF UK can offer important educational resources to help schools celebrate black history season. We hope that schools feel inspired by our resources about Mr Mandela and NMCF and that they will use our fundraising ideas in their schools and the local community to benefit NMCF UK.

This will be so important in helping to realise Mr Mandela's vision of a better South Africa for all.
