get involved / Support from Schools

A number of schools across the UK have developed strong partnerships with the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK.

These have involved Nelson Mandela Children's Fund holding assemblies for World Aids Day and Black History Month, as well as fundraising workshops linked to the Citizenship Curriculum.

Schools which have created a Mandela House have been particularly keen to engage with NMCF's work and have come up with varied and creative ways of fundraising for it.

Kings College Wimbledon Junior School has been a loyal supporter of Nelson Mandela Children's Fund for a number of years.

Every two years the cricket team tours South Africa, playing schools in several different provinces and giving the children a real insight into the differences between the two countries and the beauty of South Africa.

Fundraising for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund is linked to this tour this years' donation will bring the overall raised to £25,000.

"As part of our South African cricket tour this year NMCF organised a visit to the Victory Soccer Academy in Durban. Many of the boys see this visit and the welcome we had as one of the highlights of the tour - even though we were thrashed!" Dylan Jones KCS
We are extremely grateful to the staff parents and pupils of the school who have together raised such a magnificent amount through hard work and ingenuity -- from selling red ribbons on World Aids Day to auctioning a group of teachers at a gala dinner!
