get involved / Students Leaders Take the Step!
Barely a week after their workshop, Tia Houston requested for more collection tins as the one they had was already full! Monet-Lauren Gordon also wrote an article for their school newsletter:
"We Wash, They Gain!
Last week a bunch of students volunteered to wash the staff's cars to raise money for NMCF (Nelson Mandela's Children's Fund). Our Goal is to raise £1000 by December 16th! This money will go towards building a children's hospital in South Africa. Africa is a very big place and Australia his about half the size of it. Think about this, in Australia there are 19 children's and there are only 4 in the WHOLE of Africa! So, we need £1000 to help build another. Last week, by washing the staff's cars we raised around £84! We need this money urgently so, if you can ask Ms. Nolan if there's anything you can do to help. Future plans include a cake sale, football tournament and a non-uniform day in order to reach our goal of £1000 so please help out!"
These students have taken into heart Mr Mandela's idea that children today inspire great hope for tomorrow and in doing so are inspirations in themselves.
With special thanks to their Assistant Headteacher, Ms Moira Nolan, for always supporting them.
