news / Kings College School Fundraising Success
The staff parents and boys all worked together to fundraise for the work of NMCF, linked to a cricket tour of South Africa which took place in February. The boys who were going on the tour each had a fundraising target to reach, and sold cakes, doughnuts and even hooded sweatshirts to raise funds.
The parents also worked tremendously hard and put on a range of events including a disco for the boys and an African themed evening party for school parents, as well as selling advertising in the tour brochure.
Whilst in Durban the KCS boys visited one of NMCF's projects, the Victory Soccer Academy, where disadvantaged boys learn to play football with a view to either playing professionally or earning a living as a sports coach. The visit was a great success, even though KCS didn't win every football match!
"We are immensely grateful to the whole school -- staff, parents and of course the boys, for such a fantastic donation for our work. This is a wonderful example of how a whole community can work together to make a real difference to children in South Africa"
Rachael Ward, Head of Fundraising NMCF UK.
