Nelson Mandela Children's Fund (UK) Schools Programme:
As part of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund (UK) advocacy work we visit many schools throughout the United Kingdom as part of our Schools Programme. The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund (UK) believes that teaching children about the importance of charity is a vital investment into the future of any nation.
Devised in support of the Citizenship Curriculum, assemblies and visits are designed to raise the children's awareness so that they can understand their place as global citizens who can directly influence changes both locally and globally and make a positive difference in the lives of other children.
Beginning with a message about Mr Mandela's love for children around the world our schools programme seeks to teach the children about universal themes such as giving, caring, sharing and thinking about others especially those less fortunate. Such universal themes are always framed within our central message about the importance of charity. Here the children are made aware of their own potential to be charitable and they are inspired to become fundraisers. Educating the children about fundraising teaches them about the importance of being responsible, working in a team and giving both time and money for others as part of a contribution to a local and global community.
If you know of any local schools, colleges or universities which are interested in having the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund (UK) come and have a talk and a workshop then please get in touch!
