Swim Serpentine in support of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK!

news / Swim Serpentine in support of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK!

25th Sep 2017
On Saturday 16th September 2017 at 10.10am two Maitland Group staff members, Jaco van Zyl and Rupert Clarey, decided to take on the challenge of swimming the 'Swim Serpentine' for the first time!

They have again chosen to support The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK and we are extremely grateful for the £690 they have raised for NMCF's work!

Swim Serpentine took place on the same course as the London 2012 Marathon Swimming Olympic event, with one full lap around the Serpentine making up the one-mile swim. This is the most popular of all the swim distances for Swim Serpentine with swimmers taking anything from 20 minutes through to one hour to complete the swim.

Jaco and Rupert both managed to swim the distance in a fantastic time of under 30mins! Huge congratulations! We'd also like to thank our swimmers' supporters at Maitland and friends, who cheered them on and helped them reach this wonderful total. Please click here if you still would like to support them!!

If you would like to discuss undertaking a challenge for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK, or would like to start running with one of our London 10k places in July 2018, please contact Barbara Grillmaier at
