our work / Building Business Skills and Self Belief
Nkosingiphile Ndlovu is an inspiration. He lost both his parents as a result of HIV and Aids at the age of 10 and although the youngest of four children was determined to make the most of the help that was offered through the NMCF funded YES programme. He was soon heading up his own sewing business using recycled materials. Now as a 16 year old entrepreneur - and although still at school - he employs 3 other people and pays them a monthly salary.
"I am delighted to be part of this - now I train other young people to run their own businesses"
Nkosingiphile is part of YES - Youth Enterprise Schemes that have been introduced to Kilprivier High School in Free State by NMCF partner Education with Enterprise.
Young people are given training in all aspects of business skills and with that comes a growing belief in their own abilities and opportunities for the future.
As Mamahase from Education with Enterprise said: "When you see what happens to these young people you feel a deep sense of satisfaction. Young people have dreams for their future and are making informed decisions about their career paths"
And the high standards of the YES programme are becoming known in the area, with local businesses asking to recruit from the graduates of the programme.
